⚠️ SSD is a Hard Requirement — No Exceptions
BLACKWOOD's New York City environment is streamed dynamically as you move through the world. A mechanical HDD cannot satisfy the sustained read speeds required — the result is constant hitching and pop-in that renders the game unplayable. This is not a recommendation, it is a technical requirement confirmed by AttritoM7 Productions.
Why 16 GB RAM?
The NYC open world plus the active game processes require a full 16 GB. 8 GB causes frequent forced page-file writes to disk — even SSD — creating hitching you can hear and feel.
Dual-Channel Matters
Two 8 GB sticks in dual-channel vastly outperforms one 16 GB stick. The integrated memory bandwidth difference is measurable — AMD CPUs in particular gain 15–20% frame rate from proper dual-channel configuration.
GPU VRAM Warning
Playing at High texture settings with a 4 GB VRAM card causes VRAM overflow. Use Medium textures at minimum or the game will force constant texture streaming from RAM, creating stutters at higher settings.
DLSS vs FSR 2
DLSS is hardware-locked to NVIDIA RTX cards and produces sharper results. FSR 2 works on any GPU (AMD, NVIDIA, Intel) and delivers comparable quality. Both are excellent at Quality mode — use Balanced only if targeting very high frame rates.
